Have someone/AI play with you, like I did, and try to perfect vanish and record the different lengths of animation you see. Sometimes they'll vanish the exact frame your attack starts, sometimes it's a moment after. You can CLEARLY see this with AI if you feel like toying around with them for a bit. There's different levels of perfect vanish but it has to be done within a second of the animation starting. The game would switch to heavily favoring blast centered teams since blast cancelling is faster than strike cancelling and blasts interrupt strike attacks. It would majorly simplify the game because it would create a situation where the attacker would never be in danger of retribution. OR, they switch to gain vanish, they attack, you vanish, switch, attack, they vanish switch, attack, until you finally use your last vanish and have priority. If you remove perfect vanish this is how exchanges would go: attack, person vanishes, either they switch or, if they attack, you can vanish out of your animation and then attack, meaning you won the exchange. There are plenty of disadvantages to attacking first NOW, but there wouldn’t be if you remove perfect vanish. At which point, you just have a cycle of people vanishing and switching until people are out of vanishes. Removing perfect vanish means you can never punish anything on reaction (assuming you make it so that people can vanish earlier in their animations). What downside? The aggressor becomes unpunishable. If you get caught in their attack, either you’re experiencing lag, or you didn’t react quickly enough. If your attack has already started, and THEN the person vanishes, they did not execute a perfect vanish. If you’re a couple milliseconds too late, it will be a regular vanish. Yes, perfect vanishes are absolutely must be executed near frame perfect.
